Have a little summer fun without leaving the city! From popular city attractions to free festivals and events, summer excitement can be found throughout Atlanta.

City Classics

Stone Mountain Park: It wouldn’t be summer without an evening at the Laser Show. Make a day out of your visit and take advantage of all the outdoor sights and activities the park has to offer.

Atlanta Botanical Gardens: Don’t miss out on the garden’s summer must see exhibit – Imaginary Worlds – featuring magical Alice in Wonderland inspired giant blooms.

Atlanta City Pass: If the big Atlanta attractions are on your summer to-do list, the Atlanta City Pass is the way to go! A $76 ticket ($62 for children) gives you access to 5 of Atlanta’s top attractions within a 9 day period. Attractions include Georgia AquariumWorld of Coca-ColaCNN Studios, a choice between Zoo Atlanta or The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, and a choice betweenFernbank or The College Football Hall of Fame

A Little Out of the Ordinary

Atlanta History Center: Often forgotten about, the History Center has spent the last few years revitalizing their grounds to attract more visitors, and the results do not disappoint! Plus, the center is now home to the newly restored Cyclorama

Georgia State Parks: Head out on a short afternoon hike or plan a weekend escape – with over 60 state parks to choose from, the possibilities are endless.

Treetop Quest: Feeling adventurous? Dunwoody’s Brook Run Park has an obstacle and zip line course high in the trees! With courses for ages 4 and up – your whole family can join in on the fun.

Indoor Adventures:

Escape Rooms: With multiple escape rooms located across the metro area, I recommend doing an online search for the room closest to you (paying close attention to reviews). The AJC covered their top Atlanta escape room picks here.

iFly: Learn to fly at Atlanta’s only indoor sky diving facility. Pricing packages differ depending on how many ‘flights’ you want to take – but all include equipment rental, training, and a flight instructor to help you make the most of this one-of-a-kind experience.

Stone Summit: Beginners and experienced climbers will be impressed with Stone Summit’s indoor climbing facilities. Day passes and memberships available at both their Atlanta and Kennessaw locations.

Festivals and Events

Peachtree Corners Festival: (June 7-9) Looking for a family-friendly festival north of the city? The city of Peachtree Corners hosts a fun-filled festival without having to fight with city traffic or parking.

Beach Party in Decatur: (June 21) “Come for the beach, stay for the party!” Decatur Square will turn into a giant beach party thanks to 80 tons of sand, a boardwalk, music, food, and endless family fun.

Atlanta Ice Cream Festival (July 27): The beauty of Piedmont Park mixed with the deliciousness of ice cream…what’s not to love?
