Did you know that just a few inches of water in your home can cause tens of thousands of dollars in damages?

Did you also know that your standard homeowners insurance policy does NOT cover damages caused by flooding?

It’s true, homeowners and renters insurance does not typically cover flood damage. And, unless you purchase a home in a high-risk flood plain, most mortgage lenders do not require flood insurance to obtain a loan.

But, just because your home is not in a high-risk flood plain does not mean it is safe from the dangers of flooding. In fact, more than 20% of all flood claims come from properties outside of high-risk flood zones.

It’s for reasons like these that I suggest all homeowners talk to their insurance provider to get a clear understanding of what is covered and what is not covered in your home’s policy.
